Watercure Farm Distillery opened September 29, 2019. Built from the ground up as an exemplary distillery, we are located at the former Gwyn Careg entrance on Route 44 in Pomfret Center, CT. As Connecticut’s first Farm Distillery (Repealed in 2020), it was our goal to use locally sourced materials to craft the most exquisite spirits to offer our consumers. To date, we proudly continue to farm our own land to harvest materials to be used in the creation of spirits. We are also actively creating relationships within Connecticut's farming communities to source grains, malts, apples and other crops that are used in the creation of many of our products. Your experience with us begins as you pass through the stone entrance at our nationally recognized historic property and continues inside the post and beam distillery and tasting room. This historic land has had many owners and uses over the years. Most famous was owner Madam Eleanor Clark Murray who turned the grounds into a showplace in the early 1900s, even housing an elephant and giraffes on her property. Other owners include a royal French couple, the Marquess and Marqeussa de Talleyrand, then Wolf Den Springs who had plans for developing a water bottling facility. Today we are the fortune owners who are proud to capture this land’s own pristine water to share with you. This perfect water is combined with Connecticut grown grains to bring you some of the finest spirits available. 1686, our flagship bourbon, pays homage to the date our ancestors first came to Pomfret. Today we stand on a nationally recognized historic location making history once again. These grounds offer direct access to the Airline Trail State Park, once a railway connecting New York to Boston. Now this railway is enjoyed by walkers, hikers, horse back riders and bikers and covers much of Connecticut. Come have an experience with us and raise your glass to Connecticut!
